Unity of Monroe Prayer Chaplain Team

At Unity of Monroe our Prayer Chaplains are available for prayer after every service. A Unity Prayer Chaplain is someone who creates and holds a sacred space with you, lovingly listens to you, and holds what is heard in confidence. A Unity Chaplain is compassionate, available, nurturing, and accepting.
The purpose of the Prayer Chaplain program is to create a congregation that feels cared for and connected. There is nothing quite as comforting as being lovingly supported during times of challenge or change or even celebration. It is always helpful to have a hand to reach out to, a compassionate heart to lisen and understand. A few caring words of prayer can bring inspiration to nourish your spirit.
Unity Chaplains are NOT counselors, they don't solve problems or judge. They simply hold a sacred space - they listen, they pray. Join us every Sunday morning and at special services as our Prayer Chaplain team is there to serve you!

The Prayer for Protection by James Dillet Freeman
The Light of God Surrounds You,
The Love of God Enfolds You,
The Power of God Protects You,
The Presence of God Watches Over You,
Wherever You Are, God Is.
And All Is Well.
James Dillet Freeman was a poet and served Unity for many years in many capacities including Director of Silent Unity. Freeman was sometimes referred to as the "poet laureate to the moon" because his poems were twice brought to the moon, "a distinction he shares with no other author." His 1941 "Prayer for Protection" was taken aboard Apollo 11 in July 1969 by Lunar Module pilot Buzz Aldrin, and a microfilm of Freeman's 1947 "I Am There" was left on the moon by James B. Irwin on Apollo 15.
